Chris and I decided to take a road trip for our 5th wedding anniversary and headed up to Williams, Arizona. This is where Chris proposed to me 5 years ago. Why Williams? Well it has everything to do with trains and train watching. We found this great spot between I – 40 and Old Route 66 where the BNSF railroad has a main line double track that is very active. It is also just behind the Grand Canyon Railroad’s maintenance yard.
In the hour or so that we were there about 5 or 6 trains came through and were traveling about 60 – 70 mph in each direction. This is a great place to take pictures of trains because of all the tall pines and the weather is awesome.
These are the remains of an Elk that a train obviously got the best of. We found bones in serveral directions either from the orginal hit or by animals taking there meal else where to eat.

This is a yard we found and could only access through a fire access road. At the end of this yard is the split where the BNSF line goes down to Phoenix.
